SATURDAY, September 27 saw Sandford’s first home match of the new season when they entertained bottom of the table side Priory.
With a revamped side and on pitch like a billiard table perfect for playing one touch football, the home side soon got into their stride and after six minutes Matt Baker put them into the lead, 1-0.
Sandford were enjoying loads of possession and on 11 minutes Baker was on hand to slot home no two, 2-0.
Then on 25 minutes Ryan Trump scored number three.
Four minutes later a foul by Priory defender led to a penalty which Sam Reeves dispatched into the net, 4-0.
Sandford were in full control now and on 34 minutes Matt Baker scored again for his hatrick, 5-0.
An unfortunate incident on the 43 minutes led to Sandford being reduced to 10 men and so at half-time the home side lead 5-0.
The second half was a bit more even but Sandford still did their share of attacking with Sam Reeves shooting over on 53 minutes and a Ryan Trump volley brought a brilliant save from the Priory keeper.
Young Luke Cassar came on the right wing and on 73 minutes made it 6-0 to Sandford.
Shaun Hawkins playing in goal was forced into a fingertip save on to the post which somehow stayed out.
Shaun Stapleton, playing only his second game, was substituted and Noah Addis replaced him and made some brilliant tackles.
At the final whistle Sandford ran out impressive winners by 6-0.
Next Saturday Sandford are away to Phoenix United at Uplowman. So let's have more of same please "ford."
