SANDFORD Football Club is delighted that it will be returning to the highest level of the Devon and Exeter Football League this season.

Sandford last played in the Premier Division in 1969-70, so the current side will be breaking a record lasting more than half-a-century.

Chairman and Club Secretary Adam Voisey is thrilled at the prospect of Sandford playing at this level again after such a long period away.

Adam said: “I must commend all involved with the club over the last few years, as this has been very much a team effort.

“My thanks to Ben Waller, the manager who oversaw the club’s third place finish last season and therefore ensuring a first promotion to the top league.

“I’d also like to thank the various committee members who off the field continuously work tirelessly for the club.

“It will be a very special occasion for the club when we kick off in August. We are only a small village club and will be playing some very well-established clubs at this level.

“At the same time we are looking forward to this challenge, and playing off against some familiar local sides also.”

Pre-season training starts on Tuesday, July 5 at the club’s ground, with a 6.30pm start.

New players will be very welcome.
