DESPITE horrendous showers the Crediton Youth FC U8’s Crediboo Cup still took place at Lords Meadow.
The event saw eight sides from Brixington Blues, Central FC, Colyton, Exeter Panthers and Crediton Youth take part in an eight team round robin tournament.
The two Crediton Youth sides lost only three games all morning, and ground out a goalless draw when they played each other.
Ironically, the same event was held last year and wet weather saw it get moved to the astro courts.
It was also the final football played at Lords Meadow before the first lockdown brought the season to an end.
Other weekend fixtures saw the U10’s beat Stoke Hill in a friendly with Spencer Baxter, Jac Caruana, Will Matten and Ethan Moore getting the goals.
Travelling in the opposite direction to Stoke Hill were the U9 Avengers and Titans.
Their fixtures produced two wins and two defeats.
High scoring games saw Oliver Brimilcombe, Archie Crosbie, Ryan Eddy, Casey Philp, Archie Reeves, Jayden Saunders and Daniel Southall amongst the goal scorers.
Sunday saw three girls sides travel to Torquay United. The U16’s drew 3-3 each with goals from Ellen Barrow and a Maddie Taylor brace. But things could have been different if they had been awarded a last minute penalty for a deliberate hand ball.
The U12’s drew 2-2 against a very good Torquay side, with Evie Lewis and Ruby Turner getting the Credy goals.
But the U10 girls came away victorious with a win over their Torquay counterparts. Gracie Clements with five and Lucy Budd on target for the Crediton girls.
