NEWTON POPPLEFORD RESERVES 1 - SPREYTON 4

A TOUGH game at Newton Poppleford on Saturday, April 14 saw Spreyton see off their hosts 4-1.

Newton Poppleford flew out the blocks and deservedly took an early lead when Spreyton ‘keeper, Jordan Rowe, had a clearance changed down and the Newton striker popped the ball into an empty net.

Spreyton re-grouped quickly and a ball over the top caused confusion. At first glance it looked like a Cameron Pow lob but it hit the defender and looped over the ‘keeper for 1-1.

Spreyton still looked shaky but a through ball from Lee Watkins saw Cameron Pow run through and smash the ball home for a 2-1 lead at half-time.

Spreyton bossed the second half but chance-after-chance went missing before Pow eased nerves for his second and 3-1. Jake Herbert smashed the ball against the upright late on before Chris Down headed home a fourth.

Man of the match for Spreyton was Jon Williams.
