MEMBERS of a local family will be taking part in an unusual fundraising exercise from November 26 to 29.

Keira Willing explained: “Myself, my mum and a close friend are raising money for Pancreatic Cancer UK by visiting all the properties and stations, in order, on the original “Monopoly” board in London.

“We have chosen Pancreatic Cancer UK as the five-year survival rate has not changed for approximately 40 years for this type of cancer.

“It is a charity close to us as my mum was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2012.

“She was one of the lucky ones to be selected to undergo a Whipple Procedure which is a major operation re-plumbing the pancreas and stomach and removing the gall bladder and the Head of the pancreas.

“Pancreatic cancer seems to be overcast by the better known cancers when it comes to research. They are the poor relation in the cancer family, which is why we are raising as much money as possible for them.

“We have a JustGiving Page and have set a target of £500. We are currently at £450 and obviously hope to raise more whilst we are travelling around London.”
