DOWNES Crediton Golf Club seniors played an individual stableford competition on Monday, September 25 in an effort to win the David Moss Vase.

Frank Morrell scored a fine 39 points to take the victory and beat a group of players on 37 points. Frank also took top spot in Division One with Peter Russell (37) beating David Taylor (37) into second by virtue of a better back nine.

Peter Dewhurst (37 pts) topped Division Two with John Dean (37 pts) second and John Rance 37 pts) third.

The Midweek Stableford came to its conclusion on Wednesday, September 27 as the top eight from the 2017 Order of Merit played off to win the overall title.

On a day that saw changeable weather Jim Hutchison put together an impressive 40 points to take the victory and win by a clear three points.

Downes ladies held there autumn meeting on Thursday, September 28 which saw Viv Bailey take top spot with a very well fought nett 77 in what could only be describe as a tricky day for the ladies.

She was followed by Sue Jackson and Viv Jordan who both shot a nett 79 with Sue taking second place with a better back nine.

Saturday, September 30 saw Downes members compete in their Hole-in-One Challenge stableford that gave the competitors the opportunity to pocket a £10,000 prize on the 18th for a hole-in-one.

Unfortunately it was not to be but Graham Browne came out on top in the stableford scoring a wonderful 39 points. Steve Whyte and Steve Bassett finished second and third respectively both posting 36 points.
