DOWNES Crediton Golf Club seniors played a three player team stableford with two scores to count on Monday, March 21 which saw two teams scoring a fine 89 points.

Winning with a superior back nine were John Bundfuss, Robert Rippon and Brian Mears. This left Robin Tooze, Frank Greenwood and Cedric Chapple in second place with Richard Nicholls, Brian Johnston and Steve Gidley third two points further back with a score of 87.

Once again there was good scoring in the ladies weekly competition on Thursday, March 24. The best score of the day went to Sue Jackson whose 38 points beat Fran Shrubsole and Ladies Captain, Liz Mapson, with a better back nine.

Sue Jackson also won the Bronze One Division beating Ying Wong by two points (36). Although not taking the overall honours Fran Shrubsole took victory in the Silver Division with Sue Barr winning the Bronze Two Division with 34 points, one better than second place Linda Gill (33).

The Easter Weekend saw a roll up stableford at the club on Saturday, March 26. Will Cockerham took top spot as he amassed a total of 39 points.

Following on in second place and one point further back was Jeremy Thornton (38) with Darren Clifford third scoring 36 points.

Saturday also saw the Downes Crediton men play their third round match in the Mail on Sunday National Knockout against Saunton Artisans. With home advantage they once again produced an impressive performance to win 4-1 and progress into the fourth round draw.
