CREDITON United Players, supporters and officials are looking forward to seeing League Football once again taking place at Lords Meadow after, for us, a Covid-19 break of 30 weeks.
The last League game played by the First team was on February 8 at Cullompton Rangers, resulting in a 2-0 defeat.
League Guru and secretary Phil Hiscox knows the importance of playing games early season at Lords Meadow because of winter ground conditions and has allocated us six home fixtures (Monday’s and Saturday’s) in September with only two away games.
So plenty of football for Crediton supporters to watch this month.
The opening month’s games are as follows:
Saturday, September 5 - Bovey Tracey - Away, Monday, September 7 - Ilfracombe - Home, Saturday, September 12 - Stoke Gabriel - Home, Monday, September 14 - Axminster - Home, Saturday, September 19 - Bovey Tracey - Home, Monday, September 21 - Honiton - Home, Saturday, September 26 - Elburton - Home and Saturday, September 29 - Cullompton - Away.
The Club has received a bye in the first Qualifying Round of the FA Vase and will play the winner from the game on September 19 between Brixham and Newton Abbot Spurs on Saturday, October 10.
We only need to win the eight successive rounds to earn us the chance of playing at Wembley in the Final on May 8, 2021. Better arrange your holidays now so that dates don’t clash!
There has been so much pre-season competition, mainly on Twitter, between the “South Devon Four” Brixham, Newton Abbot, Stoke Gabriel and Bovey Tracey, bragging about their new signings that the rest of the League’s members must be feeling they are “Also rans”! We will wait and see!
Pre-season friendly results have been encouraging with the First team winning three and drawing one game and the Reserves so far winning three, drawing one and losing one.
Ground entry prices remain the same as last season with normal admission of £5 and £3.50 for concessions.
Most people are aware of Covid-19 restrictions by now, so please make sure you adhere to them! Many of our supporters are vulnerable so please make sure you respect their space.
Most importantly everyone must complete the form to register their names on the Track and Trace sheets which will be on-hand at the entrance.
It is vital that our Lords Meadow ground remains “safe” as otherwise any outbreak of Coronavirus could mean a very early end to the season.
Finally can I reiterate Dave Blanchford’s words in last week’s “Courier”. We are seriously in need of volunteer help with the running of the Club. If anyone would like to help out please have a word with Dave.
