DAVE Blanchford who celebrated his 80th birthday with a football match, Crediton v Willand, and buffet at Crediton Football Club reported that the day raised £500 for Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF).

Dave said he was “gobsmacked” to receive the presentation of a silver salver and to be made club President.

“We are now looking for more committee members because Sheila Job has retired. Dave Job was our treasurer and they leave a big hole,” said Dave.

“So we need new blood and wonder also if there is anyone out there who might be retired because they could bring experience.

“We need someone hands-on for only a few hours a week, prepared to be treasurer and a social secretary. Young people often have new ideas and sometimes more knowledge of social media,” he added.

“Please, anyone interested, do not be afraid to telephone me on 01363 775440. “Come and join us, I have been with the Club for 56 years,” said Dave.
