SPORTING Union Jack hats, wearing something red, white and blue members of Crediton Bowling Club enjoyed an afternoon of playing against one another, rather than in a match.
With Crediton Town Band playing nearby, bowlers were seen to be dancing on the Green rather than concentrating on their delivery. But it was a fun time followed by a delicious tea on Saturday, May 10.
Alongside the Green, a successful plant stall was an added attraction, selling plants donated by volunteers and members of the public.
Green fingered gardeners were delighted with a choice of outside and indoor plants, herbs and tools.
Crediton Town Council held its VE Day Vintage Picnic with entertainment at Newcombes Meadow during the afternoon.
To showcase the Club, it is holding an Open Day on Sunday, May 25, from 10.30am to 2pm to introduce all ages and abilities to try out bowling.
Games for children (with special bowls) will be available.
There will also be targets to reach for adults and rinks for those who have tried the game before.
All are welcome and Club members will be on-hand to explain how the game is played and to give details about the club.
Forthcoming matches at home will be during the afternoon of Saturday, May 17 for an inter club match, on Wednesday, May 21 (afternoon) and Thursday, May 22 (evening). Spectators are welcome.
