THE curtain was brought down on the 10th season of the South West Peninsula League in glorious sunshine at Lords Meadow where hosts Crediton United staged the league cup final in an exemplary manner.

A crowd approaching 350 saw St Austell lift the trophy for the first time in their history with a narrow 1-0 win over Exmouth Town with the all-important goal coming midway through the first period.

The Cup was presented by Steve Ware, MD of the Walter C Parson Group, who then kindly offered to extend the Cup sponsorship to at least 2020, a magnificent gesture and vote of confidence in the league and its member clubs.
