CREDITON UNITED 0 - OKEHAMPTON ARGYLE 2

AFTER a splendid victory at Teignmouth on Saturday, Crediton's young team could not capitalise on Tuesday night against their close rivals Okehampton and were always second best in this encounter as the Okey lads gained revenge for the defeat inflicted on them at Simmons Park last month.

With Will Collins gone and the absence of players such as Kevin Pike and Lukey White, Crediton had little to offer upfront although Isaac Litttlejohns and new boy Harrison Jordan did their best.

Young striker Iseoluwa Aworinde, who had battled so well in South Devon was also absent and try as they did, Crediton could not match Okehampton’s eagerness especially on the second ball.

The game was only a few minutes old when Ollie Cleave stole in and slipped the ball past Lewis Layton on the Crediton goal for 1-0.

Then, disaster struck as only a couple more minutes had elapsed when a penalty was given for what appeared to be handball.

However there was delight for the home side as Lewis dived the right way and kept the score to 0-1 at least for now.

Crediton could not get hold of the ball and in all honesty were fortunate that Okehampton could not add to their lead before half time.

The second half was no different and despite making tactical substitutions Crediton did not look like scoring and it was no surprise when Okey went further ahead due to a clinical finish from Brad Ausden.

This finished the game as a contest and although both sides huffed and puffed there was no further scoring.

Crediton still lie a creditable seventh in the table with games in hand over most of the teams above them.

After a postponement on Saturday at Torrington they attempt to get back on the horse at home to Torridgeside next week.
