EXETER City Community Trust’s Laura Evans has been selected as this year’s Premier League Community Captain.
Laura, who is Inclusion Lead at the organisation, which is the partner charity of Exeter City Football Club, has been presented with the award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to supporting young people in Exeter.
She has been instrumental in delivering and developing the organisation’s Premier League Kicks sessions, creating safe, inclusive, and engaging environments where children and young people can enjoy football while building confidence, friendships, and life skills.
Danny Harris, Head of Services at Exeter City Community Trust (ECCT), said: “Laura is a very fitting recipient for this award. Her tireless dedication has helped ensure that participants not only access sport but also feel supported and valued.”
A key part of Laura’s work has been her commitment to growing girls’ participation in Premier League Kicks. Through her passion, energy, and innovative approach, she has significantly increased the number of girls attending sessions, helping to break down barriers and provide more equal opportunities within the game.

Danny added: “Whether she is delivering sessions on the pitch or supporting individuals off it, Laura consistently goes above and beyond to ensure every young person has the chance to thrive.
“She embodies everything this award represents. Her dedication to inclusion, her ability to inspire young people, and her passion for creating opportunities through football make her an invaluable member of our team. We are incredibly proud to see her recognised as a Premier League Community Captain.”
The Premier League Community Captain award celebrates individuals across the country who have made an exceptional impact through community programmes linked to professional football clubs. Laura’s recognition highlights the vital role that community trusts play in supporting young people and strengthening local communities.
Laura said: “I’m incredibly honoured to receive this award. Working with the young people in Exeter is the most rewarding part of my job, and I’m passionate about making sure everyone feels welcome and has the opportunity to get involved.
“This recognition is really for all the amazing participants who bring so much energy to our sessions every week.”
Premier League Kicks is funded by the Premier League Charitable Fund. It gives young people access to free football and sports sessions and workshops, providing them with opportunities, support and pathways to achieve their full potential.
It sees club community staff working closely with young people and authorities in their local area, including Devon & Cornwall Police, to create stronger, safer and more inclusive communities.
Sessions, including girls’ only groups, take place at Isca Academy, St James School and West Exe School. Pan disability sessions take place on Wednesdays at Wonford Sports Centre.
