CREDITON Youth Girls Football recently enjoyed a busy weekend.
On Saturday, May 6, three Crediton teams competed in the North Devon Girls Football Festival at Sandymere in North Devon.
Sean Hartrey, who leads the Crediton Youth Girls sides, said: “Our Under 10’s played on the 3G pitch against SAS, Ilfracombe and Fremington, with some great results.
“Our Under 12’s and Under 14’s played in the Plate finals, with both winning their respective matches.
“In total 43 players from Crediton took part and we enjoyed a great day with plenty of medals and trophies for all.”
The following day, Sunday, May 7, Crediton Girls Youth provided mascots for the match between Yeovil Ladies and Arsenal Ladies.
Sean explained: “As part of our special mascot day our girls were flag bearers, ball girls and mascots, so were really close to all the players.
“The quality of Arsenal, with their string of internationals, saw them win the match comfortably, but all of our girls got to get autographs and selfie’s from all the players at the end of the match.
“It was a fantastic experience for all of our girls to actually talk to England players the like’s of Jordan Nobbs, Alex Scot and Danielle Carter before they go and play in the Euro championships in Holland in the summer.”
Sean said that the Crediton girls squads are growing fast and added that if anyone is interested in girls football, whether as player or coach, they should check out the website and go and join the group.
