GAME five from the end of the season saw Sandford First Team travel to Tiverton to play Westexe Park Rangers.
On a lovely sunny afternoon, with a blustery breeze blowing down the pitch, the "ford" kicked off into it.
Roger James was still missing from the back line and Tyler Morgan- Huggett also missing.
Midfielder Sam Reeves was also missing and was replaced by James Stanbury.
Sandford, not at their best, came under constant pressure from Westexe.
On six minutes a pass found left winger James Durand, who was completely taken out by an opposition player.
After five minutes of treatment on the ground "ford" were awarded a free kick but there was no booking from the ref.
After 10 minutes a defensive mistake lead to the home side taking the lead to make it 1-0.
A Sandford attack lead to a corner from which a challenge in the penalty area left Shaun Stapleton on the ground clutching his head.
The referee took no notice until the players and spectators drew his attention to the situation, luckily he was OK.
Sandford had few chances but managed to get to halftime just one goal down, H/ T 1-0.
The second half kicked off with "ford" having the wind at their backs and on 49 minutes Reece Kelly went close with a header that went just wide.
As much as the Sandford players tried this was not going to be their day and after a long half the final whistle blew, 1-0 to Westexe.
Next Saturday, April 25, Sandford are home to Bradninch, Kick Off at 3pm.
