CREDITON YOUTH U14S - EXETER PANTHERS

WITH Storm Ciara due to cause havoc, we awoke to a bright sunny morning on February 8 – our very own “lull before the storm”.

The match was off to a quick start with Panthers scoring within the first few seconds. Crediton then had a chance with Finn putting James through on goal, but the long grass slowed the chance down and the ‘keeper saved the shot.

Even though it was an even first half, Panthers took their chances and Crediton didn’t, making the score 0-3 at half-time.

At the half-time huddle, the coaches encouraged us to keep battling and to enjoy the match, which is what it is all about.

Unfortunately the second half went on in much the same way with Crediton trying, but Panthers taking their chances. Crediton continued to put up a brave fight but Panthers were ruthless in front of goal.

Unfortunately due to unavailability and illness we only had the bare 11 on the pitch. But, thanks to Steve “the Postie” James delivering the goods at training, fitness levels are much better now than at the start of the season.

The pitch was a challenge with the grass being longer than some of our players and even though our nets were hastily repaired, they were full of gaping holes.

Once again Crediton’s attitude was “top drawer”. To quote DIY Dave: “The way our boys conducted themselves was well beyond their years and reflects on the club and the parents. What a great bunch of lads – couldn’t be prouder.”

The next match will be a true six-pointer, at home vs. CS Lions on Saturday, February 15.

A plea from Crediton Youth Football Club

Please could dog owners kindly refrain from letting dogs loose on our pitches. They are obviously playing fields that children from six to 16 year-olds play on and we value our facilities.

It’s disgusting for us to have to play on fouled pitches and we are at risk of coming into direct contact with the dog poo, which at best is extremely unpleasant and at worst can cause severe health problems.

We want other children to be able to use our facilities but we will have to lock the gates if necessary.

Please respect our health and facilities. Thank you.
