CREDITON Youth FC U16 girls clinched third place with their 5-1 victory away at Stoke Hill. Lily Anne Smith with a double, and singles from Chloe Curtis, Evie Lewis and Ruby Turner saw them beat their local rivals.
It was a great day for Crediton Youth girls sides at the Culm Sampford summer tournament.
The U12 Youth girls returned as winners with U14’s United losing out in the final to Ottery St Mary. Many other Crediton sides made it to the later stages.
The U8 boys travelled to Saltash for a tournament. Their coaches were really proud of their performance, with both sides going out at the semi final stage.
There was to be no EDYL cup winners as both the U15’s and 16’s lost out in their finals held at Tiverton Town.
The U15’s went down 3-1 against West Exe in a game that they probably created more opportunities than their opponents, and found the opposition keeper in fine form. Zak Cheriot got the consolation goal for the Crediton lads.
It was always going to be a tight affair for the U16’s in their game against Alphington.
They fell behind to an early first half goal, and then had to chase the game. When their opponents were awarded a second goal, following a goal line melee it was always going to be tough task. They battled hard but just could not get back into the game.
