CREDITON U14S 5 - SIDMOUTH U14S 3

SATURDAY, November 9 saw Crediton United FC Youth host a second round Cup match against Sidmouth.

After a two-minute silence for Remembrance Day the match kicked off. Crediton scored an early first goal thanks to Knoxy (James Knox), which helped settle the nerves.

Knoxy was put through, hitting it across goal, slotting it past the keeper (1-0). Not long after, Sidmouth equalised, but thankfully Crediton kept their heads up. The same combination of a through ball from Finn lead to Knoxy taking it around the ‘keeper, making it 2-1.

Crediton’s back three – Kieran (Crump), Matt (Hartshorne) and Gabe (James) held their line well leaving Reece with little to do in goal.

Opposition goalkeeping errors allowed Knoxy to score a first half hat-trick and Joe (Hughes) scoring just before half-time.

A couple of long range efforts from Charlie (Lancelles) were saved well by the Sidmouth ‘keeper.

After Crediton dominated for much of the game they went into half-time with comfortable 4-1 lead.

The second half began with Pete and Luis keeping control of the game in midfield. A left-footed cross to the far post from Finn saw Rhiley unmarked, scoring a bullet header making the score 5-1.

Sidmouth however took their chances and made it 5-3. Tyler and Sam linked well together on the right side of the pitch keeping Sidmouth under pressure.

The final whistle was blown bringing the game to an end with a 5-3 win to Crediton. At the end of the game, both teams shook hands reflecting the sporting nature the game was played in.

The next game for Crediton Under 14s is on November 23 at home to Brixington Blues.
