DESPITE the heavy overnight rain, Crediton Youth FC was keen to see as many fixtures as possible go ahead at Lords Meadow on the last Saturday of fixtures for 2020, especially with another possible lockdown looming.
The big game of the day saw the Under 13’s local derby against North Tawton.
With both sides riding high in the league, a close game was expected.
In a first half edged by the guests, Ciaran Lethbridge put North Tawton in front before Ben Betts equalised for Credy.
In a much closer second half, Lewis Pearce put North Tawton in front again and momentum swung their way.
But a superb finish from Bjorn Caruana brought Crediton back level and when Joseph Bridgeman put them in front at 3-2, with his first goal for the club in the later stages, it looked like it was going to be a home victory.
But with virtually the last kick of the game, Ciaran Lethbridge equalised for North Tawton to see the points shared.
Top marks to both sets of players on producing a thrilling game of football on a very heavy pitch, which was superbly officiated by young local referee Liam Tucker.
The Under 12’s played their first game for some time and ran out 15-2 winners against Exeter Pink Panthers.
Rhys Ebdy lead the scoring with five and Zac Mildon with four, and braces from Alfie Peake, Harry Norman and Hayden Leach completing the scoring.
The Under 10’s Panthers and Puma’s continued their good run with three wins and a draw against Heavitree Blacks and Reds.
Another great morning for the club was completed with the Under 15’s winning 3-1 away at Okehampton with two goals from Finn Warren and the other from Tyler Lander.
