Sidmouth 4 v 0 Crediton Under 15s

NOT only was it Halloween on Saturday, October 31, but Storm Aiden had decided to make an appearance - the making of a horror of our own.

With blowing wind and driving rain, Dave José Hughes decided not to get his clothes wet by still wearing his shorts.

Full of optimism, after three good results and some old faces making a welcome appearance, the game started in very wet, slippery conditions.

The first casualty of the day was our very own linesman Bunny, hitting the deck "like a sack of spuds"! Fortunately for him, there weren’t many witnesses.

Crediton were up against a strong, physical and determined Sidmouth side who, just 10 minutes in, scored a cracking goal leaving Reece with no chance.

Although Crediton battled and created a few chances, luck was not on their side and a further couple of goals from Sidmouth saw it 3-0 at half-time.

The half-time team talk consisted of coaches advising a more physical approach which led to a very even second half.

Crediton had several chances but unfortunately none finding the back of the net; their keeper having a great game.

Sidmouth finished the game with a fourth goal, bathed by now in glorious sunshine; a game of two halves.

A long journey home, but consoled by a good Crediton effort against a larger, more physical Sidmouth side.

Unfortunately as this goes to press, Boris has announced Lockdown mark 2. Who knows when we’ll get to play again...?
