IN their push for promotion on Saturday, April 11, Sandford traveled to Cheriton Fitzpaine to end a run of three consecutive away fixtures.
Sandford kicked off playing up the slope into the wind, Shaun Hawkins deputising in goal for injured Charles Headley.
Sandford were coping with the windy conditions well and it wasn't until the 7th minute that the home side had their first shot at goal which went wide.
Sandford’s centre forward Jayden John Mark took a heavy fall after 12 minutes but after treatment was able to continue.
The Sandford midfield of Rowan Bosacki, Shaun Stapleton and Sam Reeves were chasing everything and after 23 minutes got their reward when Jayden slotted home Sandford's opening goal, 0-1.
Both teams had further chances but the score stayed the same until the 37th minute when a Cheriton corner wasn't cleared and they scored, 1-1.
The second half started with Sandford playing down the slope with the wind and on 48 minutes captain Sam Reeves went close with a shot, moments later Reece Kelly headed over.
The wind was playing a significant part with keeper Hawkins kicking long balls, forcing the home team backwards and Sandford pushing further forward.
On 56 minutes Sandford made their first substitution, Kelly off, replaced by Keiron Stanbury.
Two minutes later, from a corner, Sam Reeves used the wind to place the home defence under pressure and centre back Tyler Morgan Hugget slotted the ball home, 1-2.
On the 73rd minute from another in-swinging corner from the captain, Tyler made it 1-3.
Before the end Sandford forced three consecutive corners which put the home side under pressure.
Another great performance from the whole squad to capture three well deserved points on the road. Full-time: Cheriton Fitzpaine 1, Sandford 3.
Next Saturday Sandford are away to Westexe Park Rangers (Tiverton) KO 3pm. Well done the "ford ".
