QUEENS’ Badminton Club held its 12th 2 4-hour badminton event recently and was very well-attended, despite moving to a different venue at Chulmleigh Sports Hall.
Not only was it a chance to invite Liam Cordery, Head Coach from the Exeter Performance Centre, to assess players’ performances and help develop badminton specific skills, but the timetable for the 24-hours was filled with fun activities.
Everything from fancy dress fitness sessions run by QBC’s Conditioning Coach, Becky Tancock, to an inspiring talk and interactive demonstrations with local hero Dave Follett, an international wheelchair Class I para-badminton athlete who also plays for Devon Raqueteers in Exeter.
The evening was topped off with a Strictly Dancing-style competition run by the players themselves!
Nick Masson, Club Chairman, said: “This year’s event yet again demonstrated just how hard our players are prepared to train.
“The mixture of developing badminton skills and fun activities has been a real annual favourite for both players and coaches.
“What an inspirational weekend spent with an amazing group of players, coaches and parents.”
Luke Clifton, current Club Captain, added: “It’s really nice to see the players from all the different weekly sessions playing together.
“The younger ones are really being encouraged and supported by the older players and I think everyone had so much fun!”
