DEVON Bowls’ President, John Theedom, and Devon Ladies President, Margaret Brotheridge, visited North Tawton Bowling Club on September 8 with teams of players from all over the county.

At the start it was announced that the building of the new Club House at North Tawton would start at the end of September and it is hoped it will be finished in May 2016.

Chairman, Mike Thwaites, then greeted and thanked the guests for attending.

The club’s hard working secretary Gordon Denham then cut the first “sod” of the new club.

President John Theedom said that this new facility would be most welcome by Bowls Devon and would be of great benefit to the North Tawton members, visiting teams and the North Tawton community as a whole.

The game itself was played in friendly rivalry and a splendid meal was enjoyed after the match.

Praise must go to the ladies of the club who this time were Celia Cooper, Jan Summers and Pam Fisher.

North Tawton captain, John Kinsey, gave a witty and informative speech, in which he thanked the guests for coming and praised the North Tawton Bowlers for their effort not only for this day but also over the years for getting the Club into its present position.
