FENCING club Heart of Devon Swords is launching a new sabre-fencing beginner’s course on Thursday, November 6.

The course is open to all ages, from teen to retired, and costs just £49 which includes loan kit.

Trainees need to book in advance by emailing [email protected] and come dressed as they would for a fitness class with long leggings or training trousers. Junior classes are not yet available but there is a waiting list.

Coach Jason Ball said: “Be ready for a full mind and body workout! Whether your swordplay inspiration is Kpop Demon Hunters or classic films like The Duellists, fencing is serious fun.

“We wear protective gear, of course, and I provide all the kit you need as a beginner.”

Sabre is one of the three weapon disciplines in the sport of fencing as featured in every modern Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
