FOLLOWING completion of the second round of the Sandford Community Cricket League, defending champions The Three Little Pigs again head the table with two wins from their first two games, along with Sandford Football Club, who have a lesser run rate.
In the latest set of games, The Pigs played the Sandford Cricket Club Development XI and thrashed them with plenty of time to spare.
The Development XI got off to a steady but slow start, with Will Street 31 and Zack Davey 24 putting on 60 for the first wicket, but after that it was all downhill as they subsided to 129 all out from the last ball of their 20th over.
Three wickets for Ash Wonnacott and two each for Ollie Avery-Wright, Ben Wonnacott and Alex Stevens did the damage.
In reply, The Pigs knocked off the required runs in only 14.4 overs with Will House 30, Ollie Avery-Wright 25 and Ben Wonnacott 25 all having to retire as they reached the compulsory retirement score of 25.
The only other game in this round that was played was between Sandford Football Club and Graphic, and again this exposed Graphic's lack of batting strength.
After the football club only posted 99 before being bowled out in only 17.2 overs with Dave McCarthy claiming 3 wickets and Simon Cartlidge 2 from in his only over, Graphic in reply stumbled to 88 all out in 18.3 overs, with 27 of them being scored by Lloyd Copp.
Both Jack Perry and Steve Dymond claimed three wickets apiece, with Glyn Baker notching a couple as well.
The other game in this round between Crediton Milling and Crediton Rugby Club unfortunately fell victim to the weather, which means Crediton Milling are still unbeaten in third place on three points.
