NORTH Tawton Bowling Club recently held its AGM, which was well attended.

Under the chairmanship of John Kinsey many issues were discussed and resolved.
The evening was a great success with wine and cheese organised by the club’s efficient secretary, Anita Lamey.
The meeting was informed that the lockdown did not affect the work done on the clubhouse and surrounds.

Praised were the excellent ground staff of Rob Arscott, Dave Copper and Paul Andrews for their work on the green.

It was agreed that the playing surface has never been in a better condition.

The president, Mike Thwaites, then proceeded to give out the cups to the various winners of the internal competitions.

Trophies and winners were: Legion Cup (Mixed Triples) - Rick Ball, Chris Ainger and Alan Summers; Ladies Triples Shield - Marg Arscott, Chris Ainger and Margaret Denham; Vallance Cup (Ladies Pairs) - Chris Ainger and Jan Summers; Stoneman Cup (Men’s pairs) - Tom Watson (Daryl Radford sub) and Dave Cooper.

Benham Cup - Shane Wood; Handicap Cup - Margaret Arscott; Legion Rose Bowl - Jan Summers; Avery Cup - Lloyd Reynolds; Powlesland Cup (Club Champion) - Margaret Arscott; Wonnacott Cup (Club Champion) - Rob Phipps; Captain’s Choice - Alan Monks.
The president was surprised to be awarded a Life Membership for his work in establishing the new clubhouse.

It was a prestigious award and he now joins the list of other worthy life members

The meeting was fuIl of hope for the new season with Joe Gray and Phil Hamman’s stepping up as Captain.
