FOLLOWING a very successful President’s Day for Paul Andrews, North Tawton Bowling Club’s season continues at a pace!
In the Men’s, first place went to the A team in the North Devon Triples who will be promoted to the First Division, the first time North Tawton has achieved this.
Meanwhile the B team seem safe in Division Four.
The Shield sees both the A and B teams mid-table.
In the Over 60’s the A team could be relegated from Division Four but the C team top this division and look certain for promotion.
The Ladies are looking good - doing well in the Top Club and lie Mid Table in both the North Devon Triples and the Shield Tables.
The new clubhouse progress has stumbled over the last month but has seen a great response from the local community. People have come forward, thanks to the urging of our own Lloyd Reynolds, and have installed the electrics, plastered the walls and are now putting on the roof - all free of labour charges. What a great credit to them all.
With this in mind John Kinsey, Lloyd Reynolds and Dave Nicks organised a much-needed Fun and Fundraising Day where all the local pubs were invited to take part in a well-organised Inter North Tawton play off.
What a success! Despite inclement weather the atmosphere was brilliant.
A great day with our thanks to all who took part. They were all winners, however the final outcome saw the team from the White Hart, Jimmy Simons, Stuart Bragg and Graham Crawley, as winners.
North Tawton owes a great debt and thank you to the people and pubs who have helped us in our dream and raised £2,600 for the new clubhouse.
With this in mind our secretary Gordon Denham has written to some of our larger businesses, out lining our situation, with a request for a possible donation.
So once again on behalf of the Bowling Club a big thank you to the people of North Tawton.
Mike Thwaites
Chairman
