ACTIVE Mid Devon, Mid Devon District Council’s new look leisure service, has been shortlisted in the UK Active Awards 2025.

The annual awards recognise organisations and individuals who are driving innovation and making a positive change to the physical activity sector across the UK.

This year UK Active has received a record number of entries from organisations across the UK and Active Mid Devon is one of four organisations shortlisted for the Digital Transformation Category.

Since its launch in March, Active Mid Devon has taken huge strides towards making its service more accessible for customers, as well as bringing in behind the scenes changes to support staff, while reducing costs and improving facilities.

Active Mid Devon introduced a new app to support customers manage their bookings and classes, utilised the use of business analytics to track performance, adopted a new leisure management system and launched new swimming lesson software.

The Council is also looking to introduce heat mapping technology and improved pool technology to support safety.

Cllr Josh Wright, Cabinet Member for Service Delivery and Continuous Improvement, said: "To be recognised nationally and to be shortlisted to the final four really is a great achievement.

“Change always brings challenges, but thanks to the dedication of our staff and the support of our loyal customers, we’ve transformed Active Mid Devon into a leading leisure provider for our communities.

“We offer something for everyone, with modern facilities and welcoming staff and I am very proud of the work we have achieved together.”

The final, which is sponsored by STA, will take place in Birmingham on October 30.

Mid Devon District Council operates leisure centres at Crediton, Cullompton and Tiverton.
