SATURDAY, September 24 saw Sandford AFC First team entertain Clyst Valley in their third league match of the new season.
With four minutes gone of the first half, the home side had a shot just over the Clyst goal, then two-and-a-half minutes later the away side went ahead after a shot on goal which would have been saved but the ball hit a bump and went over the Sandford keeper’s diving body.
Two more chances went begging for the home side before Clyst made it 0-2 from a free kick outside the box.
Both sides went close with shots over both goals, before the away side made it 0-3. Then on 34 minutes, Dean Pidgeon scored with a left footed shot inside the post that made it 1-3.
Two more goals for Clyst making it 1-5, then on 39 minutes Pidgeon scored again making it 2-5 before half-time.
Within a minute of the restart, Clyst scored again 2-6 then on 65 minutes Sandford were awarded a penalty which the keeper saved.
Pidgeon then scored again for the home side making it 3-6. Both sides made substitutes, then with nine minutes left another penalty for the home side, unfortunately the shot went wide.
A few minutes later Clyst had a goal disallowed and at the final whistle the away side won 3-6. Keep trying lads.
