MONDAY, July 20 saw 85 senior members of Downes Crediton Golf Club compete in the Alan Ruddock Salver.

Overall winner with a fantastic score of 44 points was Colin Ray. This score also won him Division Two by two points over Robin Tooze (42) with Dan Druce (40).

Top spot in Division One went to Steve Pitt scoring 39 points, one point clear of second placed Bob Skuse (38) with Dave Lee third with 37.

The Mid Week Stableford, played on Wednesday, July 22, saw Conor Clifford take the honours with a solid 37.

Adam Fowler finished a point further back on 36 points, with Dan joint third with 35.

The Ladies played their EG Medal 10 on Thursday, July 24 and overall victory, by two shots, with a fine three under nett 70 was Viv Bailey.

This also gave Viv a five shot victory in Bronze Division Two over Ross McIntyre (75).

Winning the Silver Division was Judith Ezard with a nett 76 beating Stacey Ford with a better back nine.

Betty Willey, scoring  a nett 72, finished second overall and won the Bronze One Division by one shot from Margaret Mapledoram (73).

On beautiful sunny Saturday (July 26), with the golf course in immaculate condition, more than 100 members played in the Pros Day “Beat The Pros” Challenge.

Playing a pairs better ball Stableford, Downes Pros Barry Austin and Devon Greenslade posted a six under par 42 points score which, on the day, was bettered by four amateur pairs.

Winning with a brilliant 45 points were brothers Jack and Shaun Cross beating Ken Galvin and Mark Cummins into second place, one point further back on 44.

In third place, scoring 43, were David Slee and Will Cockerham, beating Simon Coupe and Jim Dunlop into fourth with a better back nine.

Leading mixed pair were Shirley and Peter Stunell (36) with Judith Ezard and Lynn Parry the leading ladies (33).
