SUNDAY, November 6 saw the Sandford Slammer cycle ride take place.
The event was organised by Sandford Football Club and the Sandford Syclepaths cycle group, to help raise funds for the new sports pavilion in Sandford.
It was a cold start to the day where 48 cyclist of all abilities turned up to attempt one of two routes of either 33 or 58 miles.
Teas and coffees were served before the start and at the midway break where cake and further refreshments were taken on board before the final push for home.
“One of the best food stops of any ride I have been on,” said one of those who took part.
The ride was a total success, the weather was perfect, the atmosphere and organisation of the event was second to none.
Sandford Football Club would like to thank everyone who helped out from the baking of cakes to all that helped on the day, the girls in the tuck shop and the ladies that set up and manned the food stop at the top of long drag hill out of Tiverton, which came as a welcome relief at the summit of that climb.
Too big a list to name each one but they know who they are!
The biggest thanks goes to Chris O’Connor who set out the challenging routes and also the Sandford Syclepaths and all the cyclists - it was down to them all that it was such a tremendous success.
