CREDITON Town Band has been in existence, on and off, since 1867. The current band reformed more than 30 years ago and is looking to safeguard its future.

The band welcomes brass players of any age from beginners to experienced players to join its ranks.

On Saturday, July 18 they are holding an open rehearsal in the old Town Hall, Searle Street, Crediton, from 10am to 12 noon and invite anyone who would like to “have a blow” to go along.

There will be brass instruments available to try out and an opportunity to meet the players and find out what it is like to play in the Town Band.

Band member Eric Parkes said: “A number of band members started playing for the band later in life and there is no reason why anyone else cannot do the same.

“It is never too late to learn so whatever your ability, experienced or none, come along and ‘have-a-blow’.”

Those who attend can meet other band members, try an instrument and cake and coffee will be available.
