CONTRACTORS began work to fell the Lucombe oak in Newcombes Meadow in Crediton this week.
The tree is suffering from decay and Mid Devon District Council (MDDC) has begun the process to have the tree felled.
SCULPTURE
Due to a request from a local resident (see letter’s page this issue), and facilitated by Crediton Town Council, MDDC has agreed that the stump will be left and can be transformed into a sculpture.
A meeting is to be arranged with interested parties to see what people would like to see and how to raise the money to pay for it.
Work is at an early stage on cutting down the tree and further lopping of limbs is still taking place.
