THE “Zeal Polychorums” are a recently formed group from Zeal Monachorum, led by dad Trevor Woodison with his wife Jane, both musicians and music teachers.

Together with their son Carl (26) a trumpet player and daughter Sarah (22), who plays the saxophone, are also all singers. Trevor is a tenor, Jane an alto, Carl a bass with a falsetto range, and Sarah a stratospheric Coloratura Soprano.

Late last year the family decided to entertain as a Singing Group, as they say that singing can be such fun, not just for them but for those whom they entertain as well.

They have no amplifier and need no equipment, as they just sing. They cover a wide range of songs from classical to popular, including Mozart and Handle to The Beatles, Queen, Elvis, barber shop and can even give an excellent rendering of When I’m 64.

Trevor says that the Barber Shop Organisation in Memphis is most anxious to help and advise.

Zeal Polychorums first gig in December was at a Carols by Candleight, held at the Kings Arms in Crediton when they received a standing ovation after several encores.

Trevor says they are available for all functions, including weddings, birthdays, celebrations and more.

Some may remember seeing a very talented Carl aged three-years-old playing the piano by ear, when he appeared on television.

Both Sarah and Carl attended Queen Elizabeth’s School in Crediton and Okehampton College.
