A TWO-vehicle accident caused disruption for motorists on the A377 between Newton St Cyres and Crediton this afternoon, Saturday, December 23.

The accident, involving two cars, occurred at about 2.30pm opposite the lay-by between the Hookway Junction at Five Elms Lane and Smallbrook bend.

An ambulance attended and treated a woman at the scene seated on the ground in the lay-by. She was given pain relief and was taken to hospital with a suspected fractured wrist.

Passing motorists directed one-way traffic at the scene until the arrival of police.

After investigation the vehicles were removed from the highway to the lay-by.

Sgt Harry Tangye from Devon and Cornwall Police attended and reported at 4.30pm that the road was cleared and traffic was moving freely again.
