THE annual meeting of Newcombes Meadow Community Group, which will take place on Wednesday, February 1, could be the group’s last, it has been announced.

The group chairman, Ruth Preater-Gillard, said: "At our AGM, it is likely that the Newcombes Meadow Community Group, will cease to exist.

"None of the current officers will be continuing in their roles after February 1, as we feel that we have achieved what we intended with the installation of new equipment within the play area.

"A decision will be made at this meeting as to how to disperse the remaining funds (eg Give money to Mid Devon District Council, with a request to buy further equipment).

"We are also aware that we as a group had requested a sign to mark the installation of equipment in 2014, but this is yet to happen. We have funds to pay for this, we just need to confirm wording and logos.

"If there were enough interested individuals attending the meeting it may be possible to start a ’Friends of Newcombes Meadow’ group.

"In the meantime, the existing group would like to thank our followers for all support and encouragement over the last few years and to wish everyone a Happy New Year.

"If you have any feedback or comments that you have about the play area at Newcombes, please do contact me or any other members. You are of course welcome to attend the meeting on February 1."

The meeting will take place at the Council Chamber, Market Street, Crediton and will begin at 7pm.
