I WRITE referring to your article regarding the noise from the Enchanted Garden Ball held at Shobrooke Park. I am a resident at Saxon Close, Crediton and its fair to say myself and my wife were kept up during the night whilst the music was playing. I had to be up early on the Sunday morning and we could hear the noise from around 8pm and it eventually stopped around 1.30am. Normally, we wouldn't have such issues with these events, but I find this event a little out of order when it came to the noise.
Residents were given no warning that the music would be on until 2am and no warning that there would be a DJ. It was a constant thudding noise. I really do feel for the residents who live closer to Shobrooke! I would also like to bring your attention to Dr Shelley's comments about people having their bedrooms windows open. We had ours open at first, then we closed them but could still hear the thudding noise and we live in a brand-new house with state-of-the-art windows!
I will be in contact with the council, not to try and get these events banned, but more to make these events finish at a more reasonable time.
