PUPILS at Landscore Primary School were going round in circles on Friday, December 4, as they held a sponsored wheels day.
Pupils brought in bikes, scooters, skateboards and roller skates to make laps of the playground with their classmates.
The school held a sponsored event as it is trying to raise enough money to replace the school’s adventure playground equipment which is beginning to rot.
The "wheels" event was great fun and the children enjoyed adding an element of competition to the event by seeing how many laps they could complete.
The school started to explore the replacement of the play equipment back in 2019 and applied for some grants at the start of 2020 but unfortunately, due to COVID, the school has noticed that the availability of grants for this sort of work has reduced enormously.
The school was delighted that pupils raised more than £4,300.
Debbie Main, Headteacher said: "We are thrilled with the amount of money raised and overwhelmed by the generosity of those who sponsored our children.
"Combined with money raised by the PTA last year we are heading in the right direction but we still need to raise a further £8,000 in order to have enough money to replace our play equipment and safety surface.
"We are hopeful that we will get there by the end of next year."
