THE Arts Centre is continuing its Spring programme with a fabulous performance not to be missed tonight, Friday, March 18 at 7.30pm. Head in the Clouds is a wonderful story about Marie Marvingt.
Follow Marie’s life and adventures of one of France’s first female aviators who was known as The Fiancee of Danger.
This production, supported through Villages in Action, is suitable for all age groups and charts Marie’s life which included raising her siblings from the age of 15, learning four languages, dancing, gymnastics, bob-sledding and canoeing from Paris to Germany!
A full life which, depicted by Broken Spectacles Theatre Group, is a magical tale of a young woman’s yearning for unbound freedom.
The performance will be followed by a French musette or gypsy ball featuring song, accordion, guitar, ukulele and clarinet. Tickets are priced £7.50 and £6 for concessions.
It’s also been a busy February at the Arts Centre: the launch of Shakespeare in the Square saw nearly 40 people interested in taking part of helping with the production and workshops and casting are now progressing well!
This year’s is the most ambitious yet with alternate nights showing Henry IV and Henry V from Tuesday, July 5 to Saturday, July 9 – if you can squeeze two dates in your diary we will be offering a special price ticket if you book for both shows so get these in your diary soon.
We’ve also seen Crediton Youth Theatre’s production of The Cruise which was an absolute sell-out. It’s a great opportunity for young people to get involved in theatre productions and we are delighted that it was such a success.
East Street Films put on another popular “book into film” evening when we showed Cabaret, the famous cinematic depiction of 1930’s Germany and East Street Acoustic presented Tubular Bells for Solo Piano.
Last but by no means least, we ran our Big Quiz again – this ever-popular event saw around 12 teams pitting their wits against quizmaster Pat Laver in a number of rounds including one which saw Pat acting out the names of a variety of businesses in the Crediton area – charades will never seem the same again!
Tickets for events are available from Crediton Arts Centre 01363 773260, Crediton Community Book Shop, Sandford Post Office and online: ticketsource.co.uk .
The Arts Centre is in East Street opposite Crediton Parish Church. If you haven’t come along to any of our events before please do give it a try, you’ll receive a warm welcome and hopefully enjoy the entertainment too!
