THE Ring of Bells at Cheriton Fitzpaine will be holding its first ever Wassailing evening on Friday, January 13 when everyone is invited to go along to help cast out evil spirits and encourage a bumper apple harvest in the autumn.
Starting at the pub at 6.30pm and bearing lanterns, pots and pans to bash and burnt toast, a procession will walk to the orchard on the Stockleigh Pomeroy lane where free mulled cider and apple juice will be available.
Following this the procession will return to the Ring of Bells where there will be apple bobbing, live music, comedy from a mummers group, a fire breather and general merriment!
The advice is to dress warmly and in stout footwear and take a torch. Children are welcome to go along but must be under supervision at all times as there will be a bonfire.
