NORMALLY this week Crediton Parish Church is buzzing with activity in preparation for the Flower Festival, something that is planned months in advance.

So, you can imagine that a few months back we had to make the decision to postpone this year’s festival to 2022, where we will have a wonderful Flower Festival demonstrating all that is "Devon Created".

However, we really felt that we couldn’t let this year pass without some forms of celebrations.

Today, Saturday, June 5, Saint Boniface Devon Day, we are opening the Church and Boniface Centre from 2pm-5pm for live music, bric-a-brac and plant stalls, treasure trail, quiz and count on nature survey of the churchyard. Wonderful activities all finished off with homemade cakes and cream teas served in the Boniface Centre.

We are planning another celebration - "Rainbows and Lockdown Hobbies", which will run from Friday, July 23 to Sunday, July 25 – there will be more details to follow nearer the time but please put the dates in your diary. Would you like to be part of the July event... "Rainbows and Lockdown Hobbies”?

We are in need of your lockdown projects – what have you completed – a jumper, a picture? Have you learnt a new hobby – woodworking or needlecraft perhaps?

Would you be willing to loan us your project to display? If you have been too busy for a project we are also in need of "artefacts", "household items" in a single plain colour in the colours of the rainbow (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet). For example, an orange tablecloth or Indigo vase.

Also, if you have any redundant technology - laptop, telephone for example. If so, please contact me and I will pass your details on to the relevant member of the team – either by telephoning 07960 388198 or preferably email: [email protected] . If you could let us know by July 1, we would be very grateful.

Items would need to be delivered to the church on Sunday, July 18 or Monday, July 19, and then collected on Monday, July 26 in the morning – we may be able to organise a collection service so please get in touch.

If you would like to get involved in setting up the displays or volunteering as stewards or in the cafe, we are always interested in hearing from YOU.
