ARE you worried about speeding vehicles in Crediton?
If so, would you like to do something about it?
If you have a bit of spare time and would like to put something back into your local community, why not help out with the town’s Community Speed Watch?
Crediton Police are looking for new volunteers to take part in the Community Speed Watch Scheme in the town.
PCSO Lisa Crocker, explained: "Community Speed Watch is an initiative whereby members of the community (registered through the Police Volunteer Programme) use speed detection equipment to record the speed of drivers at a given location, recording registration details of suspected offending drivers.
"The data they collect is then submitted to the Speed Watch database, from where advisory warning letters and educational material are sent out as a precursor to the targeting of persistent offenders."
PCSO Crocker said that, at present, there are three sites which have been identified as speed "hotspots" and volunteers are actively being sought to assist with monitoring at these sites at Western Road, Exhibition Road and Jockey Hill in Crediton.
For further information, please contact either PCSO Crocker by email: [email protected] or at Crediton Police Station by telephoning the police non-emergency number 101.
