AS Chair of the Boniface Trail Association, a registered charity, I was surprised to see that in a letter published in the Courier on November 30 regarding the proposed Boniface Trail Crediton Town Councillor Giles Fawssett claimed to be "vice chair of the Boniface Trail Association".

I would like to make it clear that while he may share similar aims to those of our Association Cllr Fawssett is not and has never been either our Vice Chair nor even a member of the Association and his letter to the Courier was sent without prior consultation with any of our members.

I see that Cllr Fawssett's letter has also been published on the Courier's Facebook page.

I would be grateful if you would kindly publish this letter by way of correction in both the Courier and on the Facebook page and Cllr Fawssett might think it appropriate to publish a retraction and apology.

I understand that shortly after Christmas the members of the Devon County Council Cabinet will be meeting to discuss a paper on cycle routes in Devon including the Boniface Trail.

It may be of interest to your readers to see the response we submitted in November last year to the County Council's Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan consultation.

It sets out our views on the need for a trail linking Crediton and Exeter and why it should follow a direct route as close to the A377 as possible and it includes details and an outline plan of the proposed route resulting from our own research over several years.
