CREDITON International Social and Cultural Organisation (CISCO) aims to help migrant workers to integrate into the Crediton host community and our social life.
The key factor to feel safe and welcome is the skill to communicate with neighbours and officials.
From spring 2012 CISCO has run free English lessons in Crediton, helping beginners and those who want to improve their English and speak more fluently.
Like a lot of organisations and schools CISCO suffered because the pandemic stopped the classes for quite a long time.
Free English lesson classes re-started again in May 2021 thanks to the kind offer of a free venue.
These now take place in the Ashton’s Cafe, on Crediton’s Town Square and are held every Wednesday evening from 7pm.
CISCO spokesperson, Natalia Letch, explained: “Our students’ community is multinational, our teachers are qualified and committed. The whole atmosphere is informal and friendly.
“We are looking forward to reopening the morning sessions which normally take place on school terms’ Thursdays, at 10am.
“We hope to start morning classes from the end of September – beginning of October.
“CISCO welcomes volunteer ASOL teachers for both morning and evening sessions.
“Please spread this information to reach the potential students too, it would be sad if people, who would benefit from our free services, miss this opportunity!”
If you would like to volunteer or would like further information, then please contact Natalia Letch on 01363 775739.
