DESPITE the rain on Saturday, April 27, Upton Pyne Flower Show still had a fantastic array of plants and flowers on show, when all the visitors judged the exhibits by putting pennies against the ones which they thought were the best.
The final results were: Foliage shrub, Chris Grundy; single stem shrub Nicola Baker; indoor foliage shrub, June Nicks; tulips Nicola Baker; daffodils Millie Luxton.
Pattern on a plate, Joan Nethercott; Indoor foliage plant, June Nicks; arrangement in an unusual container, Nick Baker.
Table centre, Mollie Luxton; miniature arrangement, Jilly Baker; rhodadendrum, Nick Baker; camelia, Pat Overton; cactus, Abi Hann; outdoor shrub, Nick Baker; indoor shrub Nick Baker; peony, June Nicks - which was judged Best in Show.
Children (animals from vegetable), Zara Hann; photographs, Ian Finley.
Cookery - fruit cake, Chris Grundy; Easter biscuits, Joan Nethercott.
All the winners received flowering geranium plants.
Delicious teas with home-made cakes were served by Pamela Stoneman, Pat Overton and Joan Nethercott.
There was also an excellent raffle and a popular plant sale.
