THE story about the rural crime survey appeared in the Courier on Friday, May 22, issue 1034.
The largest ever survey into crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB) in rural areas has been launched by The National Rural Crime Network (NRCN) and has the backing of Devon and Cornwall Police Crime Commissioner, Tony Hogg.
The survey will access how crime, ASB, and the threat of potential crime can affect individuals, both emotionally and financially.
You do not need to have been a victim of crime to take part in the survey. You may be concerned about police visibility or be aware of crimes that go unreported. Or perhaps you have a local police officer who is fully engaged.
To take part in the survey visit the website: http://www.nationalruralcrimenetwork.net">www.nationalruralcrimenetwork.net . The survey will be open until June 24.
Since 2011 the police have faced shrinking budget cuts and even worse cuts are predicted over the next five years.
Do you think that cuts to the policing budget affect crime levels in this area?

What you told us ..........
I don't think there is a police presence! It's got worse since the cut-backs and since the police station closed in Crediton. There's nowhere for lost property - except at the Courier.

There isn't a police presence any more. I've lived in Crediton for three and a half years and I don't think I've seen a policeman on the street in all that time. There are cars parked on the pavement all down through Union Terrace and nothing is being done about it. It is dangerous with a pushchair and young children.

I've not been aware of an increase in crime. I'm signed up and receive information on any crime in the area and this works really well. I think the police in the area are really good. I have lived in Crediton for 20 years and I think there is much less petty crime than there was 10 years ago.
