The story appeared in Issue 965 on Friday, April 4.
The story explained that Crediton Town Council plan to ask Devon County Council for more financial information, to enable it to make informed decisions over proposed cuts in the town.
It was also agreed that town council should seek a meeting with the county council about proposed closures.
The proposed cuts threaten the Youth Centre and St Lawrence Residential Home.
Mid Devon District Council is also looking at closing the public toilets at The Green.
The town council is opposed to the cuts and states that the youth services are in a good position and "a lot of money" has been spent on revamping the building.
As well as residential care, St Lawrence Residential Home also offers a day care centre, giving vital respite for families.
The town's public toilets are situated at Newcombes Meadow, Market Street, The old Town Hall and at The Green.
Although town councillors are not keen to see any of them close, they feel that closing the ones at The Green, might have the least effect.

What you told us ..........
The area that concerns me most is the Youth Centre and the very good work they do with children. The local services people need the most are Crediton Hospital and St Lawrence Residential Home, whose services are vital. It is inconvenient for family to drive miles, when loved ones could be sited locally.
There are a lot of more administrative areas that could be cut first.
David Nation, Crediton
I am most concerned about St Lawrence Residential Home and the residents who have been there for a long time – there is a lack of alternative facilities in the area. I sincerely hope that it if it were to close, that it would be taken over as a working entity. They currently offer a high standard of care.
Another concern is the proposed cuts to the Youth Centre, which are short-sited. Putting in resources at that stage of life can save problems later.
Rev Anthony Geering, Crediton
I don't think the proposed cuts are right. We need to keep as much open as possible. Especially the Youth Centre, or young people will have nowhere to go. We need to keep the town going.
