THE story appeared in the Courier on April 22, issue 1082.

A PUBLIC consultation exhibition was held at the Boniface Centre, Crediton by the developer proposing to build 185 homes at Tarka View, Wellparks near the Crediton Tesco store.

Mid Devon District Council has given outline planning permission for the development proposed by Devonshire Homes of Tiverton which will consist of one bedroom apartments as well as two, three and four bedroomed houses.

The application also supports 2,000 square metres of land for employment use (classes B1 and B2) plus landscaping, sustainable drainage and ancillary open play space.

The outline planning was subject to a Section 106 agreement which was finalised last month.

Devonshire Homes say the site offers tremendous connectivity and transport links for its new residents. It is hoped that pedestrian and cycle routes will also be included.

The public will have a chance to have their say about the plans once the planning application has been submitted.

Details of the proposal can be found online at: devonshirehomes.co.uk/tarkaview .

Please let me know your thoughts on the proposed development.

What you told us ...

We do need some houses. They must have thought about building houses when they built the Link Road? What about schools, doctors and the roads. Landscore Primary School is having an extension built but will that be big enough if they are planning on building 800 or 900 more houses in the town? That’s a lot more houses for the town to cope with. I personally think we are pushed out everything happens in Tiverton.

Crediton Resident

We don’t want any more houses in Crediton. The sewers will cause us all sorts of problems. What we need is a good children’s play area to give the children somewhere to go. I’m worried about who will move into the new houses, I don’t think people in Crediton can afford to buy new houses. I think we need more social housing.

Linda Savage-Jones, Crediton

I’ve not heard much about it. As long as it’s affordable housing and not big expensive houses I don’t mind.
