Will extra traffic impact Crediton and Sandford
A LETTER from Cllr Judi Binks entitled "Will Creedy Bridge plan have a traffic impact on Crediton and Sandford? " appeared in the Courier on Friday, May 11, issue 1189.
Cllr Binks, member for Sandford and Creedy Ward, has requested the views of readers concerning the traffic impact in the emerging proposals in the upcoming application for the proposed development at Creedy Bridge (known locally as Pedlarspool).
In particular the derestriction of Pedlarspool Lane to pedestrians and cyclists only and a new road through the housing estate for motorised traffic and specifically for heavy farm vehicles.
Air pollution is mostly invisible so it is difficult to see the damage it is doing to our health.
Studies like the Lancet Commission on Pollution and Health make it clear that poor air quality not only increases the likelihood of developing a range of respiratory diseases but also increases the severity and frequency of those illnesses (https://www.thelancet.com/commissions/pollution-and-health) .
Do you think that pollution from extra traffic created by building a large number of houses will affect the health of residents in the Crediton area?

What you told us ……….
Crediton is renowned for being a black spot for asthma. all the extra traffic that will incur will increase the problem. I feel sorry for the elderly, vulnerable and the young who will be affected the most. For years we have lived with this problem and far from improving it is getting considerably worse with the increase in traffic.
Local Resident
There is already too much traffic on the High Street and they come down too fast, especially the tractors. It’s very difficult for pedestrians to cross the road around the middle of the High Street where there is no crossing. It’s an accident waiting to happen. The pollution is hobrrible and particularly so from diesel vehicles.

It sounds grim and it’s happening all over the country. I can’t image where all these people will work - it will mean more cars on the road. What a shame!
