THE story appeared in the "Courier" on Friday, February 13, issue 1020.
Sustainable Crediton opened a Give and Take "Pop Up" shop where people could donate unwanted reusable items and shoppers could take five items a day, free-of-charge, regardless of whether or not they donated items themselves.
Organised by the Waste Action Group the purpose of the Give and Take shop was to keep perfectly reusable goods in the community and out of the waste stream.
National Lottery funding helped to pay for the rental of the shop, previously occupied by Gee's for what proved to be a very popular, unique venture.
The Give and Take shop was visited by a total of 7,700 people during the fortnight and 7,000kg of goods found new homes - many people wished it could become a permanent feature on the High Street.

What you told us ..........
It's great! I've just got some clothes for the grandkids and I got some rugs a few days ago. It's been really good and if you want to give something back you can make a donation. It will be a shame when it closes.
Sally Ingham, Copplestone
It's a good shop especially for those on benefits. People can take things and use them when other people don't want them anymore. I think it's a good shop and it should stay.
Loretta White, Crediton
The Best shop in the world! It's a good idea. Even if there's nothing you want, it's a good idea. It stops people from wasting stuff.
Vicky Norton, Yeoford
